Right then. Here's my next-to latest. And strangely, this isn't a post-apocalyptic sci-fi.It's a sci-fi, though. I haven't made an idea that isn't. Anyways, Here it is: In about the 1980s, someone started a project. He was rich and famous, but most importantly, he had lots of money. And with that money, he built a park on a deserted island for his project. The project was sick, diabolical, and for the sole purpose of his own amusement. He would use his island defense system, a massive magnetic field that completely destroys metal, to shipwreck people. He would save the survivors, then put them on the island with only clothes, a sack, and a hunting knife. There were 7 traphouses around the island, meant to look like ancient temples. They each had a diamond body part in them. It was up to the players to get all of these diamond body parts and bring them to the highest point on the island. That was the finish line. Whoever wins vanishes mysteriously, and all the jewels are reset to their traphouses. The island was finished, and the project began in the 1990s. It worked. Everything worked perfectly. He had several winners, no one got on or off, and no one knew what was going on there. But about four years after the project started, he began to feel bored. By themselves, the people weren't that exciting. Sometimes, you'd get one who made it interesting, but otherwise, it was just a waste of time. Then he got an idea. He bought a gene sequencer and learned how to use it. Then, every time he set someone on the island, he randomly added animal DNA to their own. He had no idea what he was doing, and thus created things that either didn't work, worked perfectly, or worked to make something very disgusting. However, Where there are games, there are rules. Where there are rules, there is law enforcement. Here, that is the Shredders. These bulldozer-sized, saw-bladed constructions can move through the thickest jungles easily, But they have no people controlling them. They are controlled by the brains of animals, and this makes them quick, violent, and incredibly dangerous. They don't eat, but instead shred whoever they come across. They don't come out often, thankfully. Because the only real rule is "No alliances." But recently, they've been coming out a lot. The players want off the island, and they've been teaming up to get it. And here's the RPG

Wow that is quite intresting, reminded me slightly of the most dangerous game but had a lot of originality as well as classic theme, very nice ^^

I kind of did base it on The Most Dangerous Game, and then added a little of a plot I'd had from a long time ago.
Thanks!
PS I thought of a new idea. It'll be taking a while to write up a plot for it, but that's not the thing. I want to know whether I should post the most recent or the next in line after Christmas.
What do you all say?

Hmmmm.. I'd love to hear the most recent or the next in line, all of your ideas so far have been most interesting, so go ahead and flip a coin XD

OK.
Heads!
Here's my most recent idea, shortened version. The extended version has yet to be written. And the site isn't out of maintenance mode yet, so, no link.
Humanity has caused their own demise. Because of the mass amounts of pollution being thrown into the air, all precipitation on Earth has gone from just water to an extremely deadly acid, capable of melting the human body like lava. The first outbreaks occurred in the United States. They then spread to hit the rest of the world. Every rainstorm, snowfall, or mist cloud left a trail of devastation behind it.
Rather than flee the rains and snows of the world, the US government launched a program. In the Great Plains, a massive underground colony was constructed, and six hundred of the worlds brightest and best were taken into this safe, secure fortress with no thought of returning. The tunnel in was sealed behind them. No others were allowed in. Hundreds died. Other countries launched similar programs, but those programs failed for reasons too numerous to mention.
Those left behind erupted into panic. Many rushed toward the desert, and thousands were killed just trying to get there. Thousands more died from the desert itself. But some were left, and built up their own world. Their cities and farms were built on any surface, and covered with Cast Iron, which seems to be the only thing capable of resisting the deadly rains.
Any help with this one would be extremely helpful. You see, I have a setting. But I have no idea how to turn that into a conflict, then into a plot. Any help, any ideas, would be more than accepted.

Hmmm... It is a good basic Idea, conflict could come from between the desert livers and the ground livers in the future when the people from the Plains program resurface and think it is there right to gain the world because they are the descendants of the smartest and strongest people on the earth while the desert livers think that since they were strong enough to survive on their own for so many years that they have as much right to the world as any of the ground livers, many of them thinking more right because they know how to live in this world already.
Just an idea of how the conflict and plot might come about, I love the idea by the way, really makes you think ^^

That's a good idea. Now you've got me thinking. I'll probably have a full plot in a few days.
It does make you think. A lot of people, when they hear my ideas, think I'm all preechy and liberal. Of course, that's just their opinion. I actually fail at being all preechy. =/
Thanks a ton for the ideas!

Haha no problem, I'm about as full of them as you are, and I know what you mean about the preechy thing, though mine is a little messed up because I usually write fantasy rather then sci-fi so they are always pointing out flaws

lol I have this bad habit of not thinking of ideas besides post-apocalyptic sci-fi. My favorite thing to do is give my characters superpowers, then make a logical explanation for it.
Anyway, here's the full version of my latest idea. The site is still under work, so no link. It shouldn't be too long, though. After all, nothing else to do around here. XD
The first recorded case was in Yonkers, New York. On August 5, 2009. It was a man, walking home from work. Not much is known about him, until he arrived in the hospital. Half his body was missing. He was barely alive, and lucky to be even there. He died about 20 minutes later. An autopsy revealed the following information:
Cause of death: Acid burns Likely source: Industrial accident
The press was all over the story. In this, they discovered dozens of unrecorded cases, and thus reported them. A great majority were in the Northeast and Florida, with a few scattered into California. Naturally, they were reported. A further investigation on the part of the press revealed that not only were the incidents all similar in cause of death, but more similar cases were happening across the world. All were in highly industrial countries that got lots of rain/snow.
People panicked. Bluntly put, they had no idea what was causing these incidents, and blamed them on whatever they could. Religious figures, political figures, even various government organizations were blamed. Everybody was pointing a finger at somebody, and nobody was right.
A team of scientists in China, the country that was hit the hardest, were appointed by the government to prove the cause of the deaths and end the superstitions. The results they got were so surprising that they tested it again. And again. Their tests were run four times before it was considered "proven". On December 16, 2009, they released their findings to the world in the form of one single statement:
Due to human pollution, all precipitation on Earth was now turning highly acidic. Being caught outside during any weather besides sunshine was fatal.
The panic amongst population went from bad to worse. In short, they freaked. People didn't stay in their homes, for the acid rain was taking those down, too. They ran for the various desert regions of the world. Thousands died on the way there, and the desert itself claimed a great majority of the rest.
Out of desperation more than selflessness, the US government built the Human Preservation Act. Other countries were trying similar programs, but failing. They constructed a huge underground settlement, loaded it with everything that would be needed and some things that were just creature comforts, and populated it with six hundred of the worlds brightest and best.
They way in was sealed behind them, and the rest of the world was left to fend for themselves.
But the rest of the world didn't simply surrender and die as the government had hoped. Instead, they did a little trial-and-error research, and found the one material on Earth capable of at minimum resisting the acidity of the rain. That material was cast-iron, and small villages were built out of it in the desert.
Because of the lack of building materials in the desert, the villages were usually either built on or near cliff faces. Mountains are also popular building sites, but are less common than deserts.
However, these villages soon began to fight. Resources became scarcer. Farms were left in ruins by the acid rains, leaving the village that owned it without food. One by one, the villages began to die off, until only the three biggest were left. Those three went on and on, not really dying off, but not growing, either.
One was built inside the vent of an extinct volcano, safe from the terrors of the outside world. Another was built attached to and inside a cliff face. While less protected from the rains, it was labeled "unconquerable. The third and final was built on a mountaintop, high above the raging storms below.
That was the world for another 80 years, and for those years, nothing changed.
Until now. You see, the Government knew their underground settlement wouldn't keep. The acid rains would slowly degenerate the ground itself, until the settlement became totally exposed. This they knew, and this they planned for. But they left out one little detail in their planning. They weren't expecting other people to be there.
The Dwellers of the underground settlement claimed Earth as their own, because they were smarter, stronger, and better than everyone else. The rest of the world resisted, claiming they had more of a right because they had lived outside for all the time that the underground dwellers had cowered under the dirt.
The underground dwellers attacked. The Outsiders, as they came to be known, retaliated. And they played their vicious game of tug-o-war. Some of the outsiders banded with the Undergrounders, and vice versa. The Earth was ruined, and all anyone could think about was who would inherit it.
Critique and/or changes are welcome.
