"Loe Renee, Abbott Price and Catarina Powell have won the game for Rouerie!", a light haired Tip Arana shouted through his wand (it acting as a microphone). The trio of third years high fived each other in congratulation. Their opposing team's seeker had caught the snitch, but only be disappointed when looking at the score board. Renee, Price and Powell had each scored enough points to exceed Cossu's even with the bonus 150 points your rewarded with the snitch.
"Not to shabby, Rina.", Abbott beamed a smile as he and his teammates walked off of the Quidditch pitch victoriously. He had dubbed her Rina since their first year. Catarina had so many nicknames that she couldn't keep track of them all, but the most common was just Cat. She like that he had given her something different and was in fact one of the only people to call her that.
"I suppose I could say the same for you.", she let her hair down from her messy blond ponytail. It hadn't mattered much because parts of it had already fallen out of place. Her hair was always a disaster during and after a Quidditch game.
Two much older versions of Price and Powell walked the halls of the Splendor Ring. They had just reached an agreement to play a short match of friendly Quidditch.
"Well, there's no hurry, but you see I'm trying to get the team together for a strategy plan.", Abbott rubbed the back of his neck. As he said many times, he was a thinker among many doers. It was a good quality to have when in the position of captain, but Cat had overheard Neal and Kelan mumble to each other that he was a fun sucker of some sort. "Have you seen any of our fellow Macaws, or are all they all out goofing around and enjoying Hogsmeade when they all should be thinking about what we have to achieve?", there he went again. "If we don't find them it won't bother me any.", Abbott confessed. "I'll get to be alone with you a whole lot sooner."
Cat ignored Abbott's romantic remark. It was random and she hated the awkwardness of sharing feelings and such. "They do like to enjoy life don't they?", her face was now heating up and her legs began to shake. She didn't have the steadiest of nerves. "But I'm sure they're around here somewhere.", she looked over at him and smiled with a nod.
"They're probably avoiding me or something, you know what they say....I'm no fun."
"You are to, fun!", Cat smiled and hooked her arm over Abbott's shoulder. "You know what? Let's just skip the team meeting. You've said yourself that your a fun sucker.", her smile still gleamed. "Let's just go out!", when she hadn't said anything for a while after that she quickly realized what she could have implied. "Just go out....and have fun?", Cat felt a knot in her stomach tighten and pull.
Abbott had just laughed her comment off and Cat was glad! "All right, Powell. Let's have some fun.", he smiled glancing over at her. "So, Quidditch first or would you prefer us getting something to eat before I kick your arse too badly?", Abbott teased with a smirk.
Cat looked his direction with her eyes alone. She narrowed them and her sweet smile turned into a challenging smirk. "Quidditch......Price."
Later at a local Quidditch pitch Abbott and Catarina prepared to face each other. Cat mounted an older broom of hers. It was the only one she had ever owned; the same broom from her second year of schooling. She loved it dearly and couldn't imagine flying on anything else! "Ready to loose, Price?", she challenged Abbott.
"Oh, I assure you I won't be the one losing, Rina. Wherever you're ready.", He tossed her the quaffle before throwing her a charming smile. "Ladies first.", Abbott. nodded his head. A bludger flew above them only a moment or two before plummeting towards them with the usual goal of a bludger; to kill.
Catarina ignored Abbott's charm and zoomed under him towards her three hoops. She wasn't going to waste anymore time. "I don't act like a lady on the pitch.", Cat looked behind her and smirked. Her stomach felt twisted, but in a good way. She wound up her arm and let the quaffle loose, zooming toward an empty hoop.
Abbott darted over in the direction the quaffle of the and caught it in a few seconds time. Grinning Abbott took off with the quaffle in his hand, zigzagging past Cat. The wind blew his dark hair in every direction. He tossed the quaffle in his hands, and caught it, then started showing off. Abbott darted past two bludgers and zoomed past Catarina getting closer to her side of the goal posts.
"Price!", she yelled in anger when he blocked the quaffle. Catarina flew upside down and spun around to gain extra speed. She was getting closer to Abbott and was sure she could block the quaffle just as he threw it.
Abbott laughed. He saw a streak of blonde zooming closer, and closer towards him. At the last second he launched the quaffle into the hoop furthest from Catarina. Abbott grinned as he saw the quaffle sail into the hoop. He snickered knowing that this would so tick Rina off. He turned around on his broom and raced back to his goal post.
Cat waisted no time. She grabbed the quaffle only moments after it has scored. Throwing it up in the air she spun her broom around whacking the quaffle at an amazing speed. It ripped through the air and right through the middle hoop.
Powell and Price were tied.
"Cheater!", Abbott shouted. He teased, though he was a bit annoyed about the goal. "So, that's how you want to play, eh?", Price shouted over to her. He grabbed the quaffle, quickly and sailed over to the middle of the pitch; tossing the ball up and down. "Come and take it from me, Powell.", He smirked, eyes darkened, playfully. "Unless you're scared."
"Not on the pitch.", she smiled shouting back. Fear didn't exist when Catarina hopped on her broom. She felt invincible, undeniably indestructible. Cat flew through the air to Abbott. She snuck in right above him; knocking the quaffle temporarily out of his hands. Cat looked at him and dove towards the ground.
Abbott dove down after her, it was like a game of Qudditch; cat and mouse. He was seconds from her and getting the quaffle back into his possession when out of the corner of his eye he spotted the bludger heading toward Cat. She wouldn't have seen from where she was. Abbott thought about shouting at her, but knew that it probably would be too late by the time she heard him. Instinctively, he leaned against his broom, sped up, and pushed Catarina out of the way seconds before the bludger would've hit her. He took the impact from the bludger head on. It slammed into the side of his face; causing him to lose his grip on his broom and his balance. It sent him plummeting down onto the pitch ground. His broom cracked upon impact and Price collapsed in a heap beside it.
Catarina was sent spinning. "What the hell, Price?!", she regained her balance, but heard no reply. "Price!", her voice was still angry, but as Cat turned to see Abbott's body falling to the ground she became desperate. "Price!", Cat screamed. She flew downwards in a barreling spiral, but made it to late. Abbott had hit the ground. Cat threw her broom aside and lifted the upper part of Abbott's body up with a struggle. She rested his head against her shoulder. "Price! Price! Wake up! Come on, wake up!", her voice was shaky and she felt her body doing the same thing. Tears welled in her eyes as she squeezed his hand.
A low moan escaped his lips, and slowly Price opened his eyes. "R-rina?", Abbott reaped, trying to hold on to any small thread of consciousness he had. There was a small gash above his right eyebrow and his right eye had already started to become swollen and black.
"Yes, yes. Abbott! It's Rina.", her body still shook and a single tear fell from her eyes. Catarina laced her fingers through his and she squeezed his hand again.
"You okay?", he slurred. "Good, s-stay....d-don't go...", Abbott murmured. He winced.
Catarina smiled a bit. "I'm fine........but-but why'd you take that bludger for me?", she waited for a response, but nothing came from Abbott's lips. "Price?", she looked into his eyea and saw that they had closed. "Price!", she cried.
